Tesla Tips for the Autumn season

Tesla Tips for the Autumn season

For years, at Tesla Outfitters, we have been dealing with all things Tesla season after season. Over time, we have gathered and reported many Tesla Tips. Now that autumn is starting, it's time to provide the best tips for the fall. With the right tips, you as a Tesla driver can make the best preparations and get your Tesla Model Y or 3 ready for the rainy season.

1. Timely Tire Change for Your Tesla

One of the most important Tesla autumn tips is the timely switch to winter tires. When temperatures consistently drop below 7 degrees Celsius, it’s time for the change. Make sure to have the tire change done professionally and, as Tesla recommends, use Jack Pads.

They protect your vehicle’s battery and ensure that the jack is optimally positioned. You can find these pads in the Tesla Outfitters Shop. Plan the tire change in advance, as workshops are typically very busy in the fall. After the change, you should adjust the tire pressure according to the manufacturer's specifications found in your Tesla's door frame.

2. Protecting Model Y and 3 Interior from the Elements

Another essential Tesla autumn tip concerns protecting your interior. Especially in autumn, we often bring mud and wet leaves into the car. High-quality all-weather rubber mats are therefore a worthwhile investment for your Tesla Model Y or Model 3. These specially tailored mats not only protect the vehicle interior but are also particularly easy to clean. A complete set includes floor mats for the front and rear areas, as well as a perfectly fitting trunk liner. An additional mat for the front trunk, the so-called frunk, where wet charging cables or groceries are often stored, is also particularly practical. You can find the matching mats here:

3. Comfortable Defrosting via App

One of the clever Tesla autumn tips is definitely the smart use of the Tesla App for defrosting. Instead of fumbling with an ice scraper in the cold, you can conveniently activate the windshield heater via your smartphone. The electric windshield heater ensures that the ice melts evenly and gently. It is best to start this process about 10-15 minutes before your planned departure. You will receive a notification from the Tesla app when the defrosting is complete. It is best to use this feature while your Tesla is still connected to the wallbox. This way, it doesn’t draw power from the battery but instead uses the wallbox’s power, allowing you to start with maximum range.

4. Preheating at the Right Time

You don't always have to manually defrost or preheat your Tesla Model 3 or Model Y. Instead, you can set a scheduled departure time via the Tesla App. The system then ensures that the interior is pleasantly warm at your scheduled departure time. The seats and steering wheel are also preheated, which provides maximum comfort on cold autumn mornings.

5. Optimal Battery Preconditioning

An especially important Tesla autumn tip concerns battery preconditioning, particularly for vehicles with an LFP battery. When you set a Supercharger as the destination in the navigation system, your Tesla automatically prepares the battery optimally for the charging process. This is especially important in the cold season, as it significantly improves charging speed. LFP batteries, such as those installed in the Standard Range Model Y from Berlin, charge much slower when the battery is cold.

Conclusion

With these Tesla autumn tips, you are well prepared for the mixed season. The combination of proactive planning and intelligent use of the Tesla App makes driving enjoyable even at lower temperatures. It's best to start implementing these tips right away to ensure your Tesla is well-prepared for the fall.
